New Zealand’s premier metal band 8 Foot Sativa have risen from the wild west of Auckland becoming a household name and have created Metal history in New Zealand.

The huge success of their three previous albums, national tours, breakthrough chart positions and exposure in the main stream media has never before been seen in this country by a Heavy Metal band. As all 8 Foot Sativa fans are aware, the band have endured some line-up changes and obstacles over the years and yet always come out on top.

With the return of the legendary Justin “Jackhammer” Niessen they’re leaner and hungrier than ever. Industry and band politics will always take a back seat to what is central to the 8 Foot credos; making kick-ass music.

Justin returns straight into an action packed end to 2012 with the release of 8 Foot Sativa’s “Greatest Hits”

8 Foot Sativa on May 11th 2013 snuck into Quicksand Studio to record the heavily anticipated 4th Album.

For this project 8 Foot Sativa have bought in producer Clint Murphy from Modern World Studio in UK to deal with what carnage they have in-store.

The Album is set for release in August 2013 they have titled the new album “The Shadow Masters”.

In 2002 the bands debut album ‘Hate Made Me’ achieved Gold status in New Zealand, putting 8 Foot Sativa at the top of the food chain straight out of the gate.

2003’s ‘Season For Assault’ earned five star reviews, entered the album charts at number 6, and made it to number 1 on the independent charts, a first for a Metal band in New Zealand.

In 2005, 8 Foot Sativa released their third album, ‘Breed The Pain’, recorded in Sweden with Studio Underground’s Pelé Saether (Carnal Forge, Flesh crawl).

When questioned on the direction of the new album and where the influence will be drilled from, Smith quoted “The sound since we are back together has automatically formed and with the input from everyone in the band we think the new album will simply be “Kick Ass” Jack lives in Christchurch and travels each week to Auckland for practice and brainstorming with the rest of the band. “We are fresh and focused on where we need to go”.

Jack states “I’m excited to get out on tour with Nik, Brent, Corey and Gary and let shit rip” We have a lot of ground to make up as I have been off the road for some time but when people come to the show they will leave knowing 8 Foot Sativa is back.”
