This band was formed in Lima/Zarate, Argentina, in the middles of 1994 by Alejandro (guitar and vocals), Pansa (bass), Fernando (drums) and Marcos (vocals). As a result of the influence of some Heavy, Thrash, Black and Death Metal bands, they started creating their own songs. In the beggining of 1995 the band began giving a few live shows, and soon afterwards they entered studio to record five of their compositions. So, in 1996 the "Bienvenido a la Nada" demo-tape was released. It contained only four of the recorded songs, and the distribution was basically local.

Immediatly after 1917 wrote new songs, more influenced by melodic and technical Death Metal, planning to record a demo/compilation together with three other underground bands. Entitled "Memorias de Muerte", this release was finally edited in May 1997. At the same time, 1917 started to record the tracks to be included on their first CD. But before the end of the year Pansa left the band, and all the activities was delayed to find a substitute.

In 1998 Damian joined the band as the bass player, and the CD "Inti Huacay" was finally ready. This release included five songs in which the Death Metal was mixed with elements from the Black and the Thrash Metal, plus two short tracks based on the southamerican aboriginal music, which open and close the CD.

After the release of this CD, Marcos decided to left the band, and Alejandro taked his place on vocals. 1917 continued working as a three piece band. In December 1999 a song taken from "Inti Huacay" was included on a compilation CD titled "Hermandad Metalica vol. I" (Argentina).

In November 2000 they recorded a new song, to be included on several compilation CDs, as "Sacrilegio Extremo" (Argentina), "Ancient Ceremonies vol. IV" (Portugal), "Estei Jevi" (Argentina), "My Kingdom" (Italy), etc.

In June 2001 the band entered studio to record two songs for a compilation titled "Nahuel vol. III" (Argentina). After working on these recording sessions, both Fernando and Damian left the band. Then Alejandro composed the songs for a new album, and Pansa returned to 1917 to play the bass guitar again.

Between February and March 2002 they was working on studios, and the result was the release of their second album, titled "Genesis & Horror". Also, during September the band recorded some new songs again, and this way 1917 together with Slow Death (Venezuela) and Slow Agony (Paraguay) published a 3 way split CD titled "Sudamerica Brutal vol. II". This CD was edited by Hurling Metal Records (Argentina) on December. Before the end of the year a guest musician named Eric Loiacomo was included behind the drums, and since that moment 1917 is playing live again.

In the beginning of 2003 the band was included on some compilation CDs, titled "Infected Voice vol. V" (Peru), "Under Metal vol. I" (Peru) and "Acero # 19" (Ecuador). 1917 played some live shows during the year and, on November, Alejandro and Pansa started with the recording sessions for the release of a new album.

On this way "Vision", their third album, was edited in Argentina on February 2004 (under Hurling Metal Records and Southern Hellish Productions), and in Mexico on July (by Concreto Records and Atolinga Records). On the other hand, the band included two tracks on the compilation titled "Memorias de Muerte II". During the year the band played some live shows, and recorded two songs for the "Memorias de Muerte III" compilation. On December, 1917 started with the recording of a new album.

In April 2005 the album "Neo-Ritual" was finally released, in collaboration with the label Southern Hellish Productions (Argentina). This album, which was recorded, mixed and mastered at La Nave de Oseberg studios, contains 8 songs involved on the Death Metal with strong influences coming from the Thrash and the Black Metal, plus two ambient tracks as intro and outro. While a mexican "Neo-Ritual" edition is being planned, the band is rehearsing in order to give new live shows.
