MORE METAL THAN EVER!!!
Being active since the late 80's, Abhorrent has released two albums and participated in several compilations and tributes. The band is now rehearsing hard and a new album is expected to surface mid/later fall.
HISTORY
ABHORRENT was forged in Brasília, Brazil in January 1988. Later the same year, the first demo "Horrible Slaughter" was released. It had good reception from radios, several magazines, and zines, all of which have been good reviews. The band took a break then, coming back 2 years later.

In 1991 Abhorrent was back, this time with a new musical direction. Departing from the original death infused thrash sound & accepting its thrash roots, the band was back in full force.

"Blood On Your Lips" was the second demo & had greater feedback from the specialized press, establishing the band as one of best upcoming bands from the Brazilian underground.

In 1993, Abhorrent did several shows throughout the country & were invited to take part in a compilation album called "Brazil Alternativo 6" with the song “Let Me Live. The album was distributed among Brazilian and other international media. This was Abhorrent's first contact with nations abroad. The compilation was widely spread in radios, record companies and among the international press. Abhorrent appeared on Mtv Brazil & presented the song "Face Of Terror." "Let Me Live" and “Face OF Terror” would later appear on the band's first album, "Rage" that was recorded & released in 1996.

RAGE ON!
"Rage" had excellent reviews in magazines, zines, newspapers, radios and the Internet. As a result of this intense promotion, in 1997 the band was invited to do an European tour. The first show on European ground was in Rugeley, England.

After traveling through many countries, Abhorrent returned home. After the short tour in Europe, one more compilation took place: "Cult 22". This was organized by a radio in Abhorrent´s hometown. "Cult 22" had the first new song since the release of the first album, "Beg For Mercy". This song was later re-recorded for the next album.

In 1998 the shows & hard work on promotion were tough, but in 1999 the band's efforts were rewarded with the invitation from Dwell records to take part in two tribute albums. One was for Megadeth entitled "Megaded" and other one for Brazilian comrades Sepultura, called "World Of Pain". It is worth remembering that Abhorrent is the only Brazilian band to ever take part in a Megadeth tribute. Abhorrent recorded Megadeth's "She-Wolf" and Sepultura's "Clenched Fist".

Still in 1999, the band appeared in another compilation released by a Brazilian magazine, "Planet Metal". The album was released along with the magazine itself, which also included renowned international bands such as Angra, Sodom, Freedom Call, and Lacuna Coil. The band presented another new song titled "Grief" which was re-recorded for the new album.

In 2000, Abhorrent performed in the biggest independent rock festival of Brazil, the Porão do Rock festival, in the band’s hometown. Sepultura, Krisiun, Korzus, D.H. Peligro are among many that have performed in the annual festival. Over 60,000 people attended the show that included several other Brazilian bands & other famous acts. Later a compilation with the best bands from the festival was released and Abhorrent contributed with another song yet to be released, "Nailpoint".

2001 came in and the new album was finally released. At the release party/show for the second album "Caution: Strong Irritant!" the band had a special guest, Frank Gosdzik. Frank is the former guitarist for Kreator & Sodom & joined the band to play a few tunes.

STILL RAGING!

The years have passed and the band is still working hard!! In 2005 two more
albums feature Abhorrent. On "Metal do Cerrado", a compilation of Brazilian
bands, the first two new songs since 2001 were released, "Never" and "The End", and on "INDIANS... NOT! the official Brazilian tribute to Anthrax, the band performs the song "A.I.R.", a true classic.

After all the promotion & shows throughout Brazil, it's time to think about the future. Abhorrent is now rehearsing hard for upcoming shows and starting to compose new songs for a third album, tentatively due early/mid 2006.
