Oblivion999 formed in April 1999, changing their name from "Coven" into the current one. The 999 was included in the name to testify the year of foundation of the band.

After having gained some live experience, in 2001, with their first stable line-up, which included current founding members Diego Angeli and Francesco Poggi, Oblivion999 recorded the demo-cd "Paths Of Denial". This self-produced cd contains six original tracks of melodic death-thrash metal, written between 1999 and 2000.

Just after the release of the demo-cd, due to personal and musical reasons, former singer Alessandro Guidi and drummer Shanti Strafinger left the band. Thus followed a long period of instability in the line-up, which saw, in 2002, the entrance of Stefano Crotti behind the microphone, and in 2003, the departure of the bass player, Riccardo Franzoni.

With the arrival of drummer Nicolò Messori in 2004 and bassist Gabriele Lei in 2005, Oblivion999 recovered a stable line-up and started working on the songs for their debut album. In June 2006, the band decided to self-produce the album, with the help of Daniele Gaetani from Red Pill. The recording sessions ended in spring 2007, while the mixing phase lasted until October 2007.

The album was given the name "Illusions Painted For Me Alone". It contains 13 tracks, whose style is universally recognizable as metal, and highly enjoyable.

In the meantime of the recording and mixing process, the band could play a bunch of warm-up live gigs, already testing on stage most of the "Illusions..." songs. Oblivion999 are now looking forward to promoting the album as much as possible.
